Team Goes Hardcore in Distance, Multi-Sports, Obstacle Events

The Vitalified Sports team was all over the map in the first days of July, as many of our members joined multi-sports events, long-distance runs, and team obstacle courses.

On Wednesday, July 6, Jordan Billones and Archie Patubo took part in the first-ever Philippine Uniformed Services Obstacle Course Race at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.


Representing the Philippine Navy, their team was first runner-up in the obstacle race organized by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in partnership with Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation (POSF).


In a press release, the AFP said the event aimed to promote “rapport with uniformed services” and develop “a physically fit and resilient personnel.”



‘HARDCORE’ CEBUANOS





Our very own Cebuano runners went the distance in a pair of ultramarathons in their home province this past weekend, July 8 to 9. Near Canz and Arnold Quijano completed the longest of the two runs, the Hardcore Ultra Challenge, at 102.5 kilometers from Cebu City to the beaches of Badian in the island’s southwest.





Rowena Ajero was also successful in the 55.5-kilometer Cebu Century Ultra Marathon, which started in Carcar City and ended also in Badian.



DUATHLON, TRIATHLON

Kerwin Jonathan Refe placed fourth in his Sprint age group in this year’s TriFactor Run Bike Run Duathlon at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga on Sunday, July 9. Kerwin finished a 2.5-kilometer run, a 25K bike race, and a 5K run at a time of 1:39:17.

Also on Sunday, Lucy Tubal, Nel Luceño, and Augustus Jimenez joined triathlon events in Panglao, Bohol.





Lucy and Nel were in the 5150 Triathlon, consisting of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40K bike ride, and a 10K run. Meanwhile, Augustus competed in the Go for Gold Sunrise Sprint triathlon, which involved half the distances of the 5150 Triathlon events.

BUDDY RUN





Jordan and Archie also joined the 15th edition of the Robinsons Supermarket Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run at Bridgetowne Estate in Quezon City.





They finished in 4th place in the 5K run of the tandem race. Sheldon Jose and Rionell Buencamino likewise teamed up for the Buddy Run. — Michael Bueza, The Pacer
